The reading is a showcase event for published writers from Ireland and abroad, (including self publications) with an opportunity to publicise and sell books, as well as a combined showcase and peer review event for new and upcoming writers. The Seven Towers Agency publishes an anthology Census which carries the ‘best of’ from this event. The first anthology was published in December 2008 and included the work or more than 30 writers. In addition a number of the writers represented by and/or published by the Seven Towers Agency were discovered at this event – including Steve Conway, author of Shiprocked: Life on the Waves with Radio Caroline and Quincy R Lehr author of the poetry collection Across the Grid of Streets, and current associate editor of The Raintown Review. The Last Wednesday Series Reading and Open Mike is unlike most other events of its type

DUBLIN CITY DESIGNATED AS UNESCO CITY OF LITERATURE |

The IRISH GOVERNMENT been notified by Mr Matsuura, Director General of UNESCO that Dublin is now permanently designated as: UNESCO City of Literature! The Lord Mayor made the formal announcement at 11am , Monday 26 July at the Plaza in front of the Grand Canal Theatre . Deputy Mary Hanafin, Minister for Tourism, Culture and Sport , will welcome the announcement. There will be many opportunities over the coming years to celebrate this wonderful accolade as we all work together to promote Irish literature, locally, nationally and internationally.
